As the New Year is just around the corner, now is an opportune time to remind individuals of some the upcoming changes in New York’s employment landscape.

Wage Increases:

The minimum wage for non-exempt employees in New York will increase as scheduled on December 31, 2017. The following new hourly minimums will apply:
New York City, 11 or more employees: $13.00 per hour
New York City, 10 or fewer employees: $12.00 per hour
Nassau, Suffolk & Westchester counties: $11.00 per hour
All other parts of the state: $10.40 per hour

The minimum wage for fast food workers—regardless of employer size—will increase to $13.50 per hour for those working in New York City, and $11.75 per hour for those outside the city.

The minimum salary for exempt executive and administrative employees in New York will increase as scheduled on December 31, 2017. The following new annual minimums will apply:

New York City, 11 or more employees: $50,700 per year
New York City, 10 or fewer employees: $46,800 per year
Nassau, Suffolk & Westchester counties: $42,900 per year
All other parts of the state: $40,560 per year

New York’s Paid Family Leave Law (the “PFL”)
