NEW YORK STATE COVID-19 SICK LEAVE

The New York State Legislature and Governor Cuomo announced a three-way agreement on a bill guaranteeing job protection and pay for New Yorkers who have been quarantined as a result of novel coronavirus or COVID-19.A summary of the bill is as follows: Employers with 1-10 employees with net income of less than $1 million

The United States Department of Labor (“DOL”) issued guidance regarding the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”). Below are some highlights from the Guidance issued by the DOL: Although no date has been set for regulations, the DOL stated that it expected them to be issued in “April 2020.” The regulations will address, among other things, whether employers with fewer than 50 employees are exempted from the FFCRA’s leave requirements.
